When it was time to put our cat of 17 years to sleep, I struggled with going back to the vet. We had euthanized our other elderly cat last year at the vet’s office, and it was stressful and heartbreaking. I did some research and came across Dr. McDonald. My 16 year old son and I (she slept in his crib!) sat with her and loved on her for a while, and then Dr. McDonald gave her a sedative. She fell asleep in my arms, to the sound of my voice, in her favorite chair, at home. The rest took seconds. Though we both cried through the whole thing, it was so much more healing to do this at home. Dr. McDonald was gentle, made sure we were informed, and helped us in the aftermath. I really can’t say thank you enough. I would recommend that anyone who has to face this tough choice to consider home euthanasia. I truly believe it makes it so much easier on our beloved pets. It is a kinder way to say goodbye.
