Dr. Danielle, I cannot let another day pass without recognizing and thanking you for the amazing calmness, professionalism, and peace with which you cared for Cam during the experience to pass him Over the Rainbow at the Floyd home last week. You treated him and us with such grace, delicacy, and positivity. I was committed to playing music for Cam, and you saw him move over to the piano and lie down as he went to sleep, with Melinda gently petting and calming him as he was soothed by the beautiful sounds. I am not sure I have performed Over the Rainbow with more sensitivity. I played the piano much of the time at Melinda’s home, and whether it was ten minutes or an hour, Cam always laid right beside me the entire time and listened peacefully. I know he heard my playing that day. Providing euthanasia for loved pets as a profession with I assume numerous services in a week, I was not quite ready for your level of emotional response to our Cam’s passing. Nothing nurtures the human soul like music, and it is the same for such loving pets as Cameron, but your display of emotion only spoke to your commitment to your profession and the loved pets you care for in sending them to their resting place.
So, thank you again for being the compassionate professional you are. Your presence gave peace to Melinda and I and assured us Cam got the most gentle and nurturing care as he passed Over the Rainbow.
